Those interested in a little TV industry whining (and/or smack talk, depending on your perspective) should check out the LA Times article on the Emmy reality awards.

There have been suggestions that it’s hardly an apples-to-apples match-up to have “The Amazing Race” compete with more artistically driven fare like “Idol” and “Dancing,” that perhaps “Race” should be relegated to a newly formed category like, say, “international team competition series.”

That reminds me of the NY Times bestseller list “problem” some years ago when the Harry Potter books crowded the top of the fiction bestseller list, forever, until the publishing industry whined and the NYT set up a separate “children’s” list.

Lots more whining in that LA Times piece.
