The series premiere of Newsroom, HBO’s new drama series written by Aaron Sorkin and starring Jeff Daniels, was watched by 2.1 million total viewers in its initial airing on Sunday. A total of 2.7 million viewers watched one of the two telecasts of the episode on Sunday night. This is slightly below the 2011 series premiere of Game of Thrones, which averaged 2.2 million total viewers, but significantly higher than the first episode of True Blood, which had 1.4 million total viewers in 2008.
