Cul-de-sac Crew is the exact title I suggested to ABC (I bet others did too).

Yeah, CT has a bad title, but I love what they do with the title cards each week. It’s too bad more people don’t watch. It’s just a fun, goofy show with occasional drama/tender moments. I doubt they will gain any NEW viewers this season, but I hope the viewers who enjoyed it before will at least keep watching.

Also, the big hub bub about a gay kiss on HE last week? Big deal…I was okay with it. Plus, there were TWO “same sex” kisses if you count the scene where the two girls kiss as they leave Dave’s apartment. So girl-on-girl AND guy-on-guy with his Valentine later. Love is love, I don’t care. The girl-on-girl thing probably wasn’t love, but we don’t root for those two…we root for Max to find love, and perhaps now he has. Keep it safe and monogamous is all, IMO.

I really liked the first episode of Smash. The introduction to the characters, and there are a bunch of them, worked well. I cared about who got the Marilyn role. Then I started watching Ep. 2 and…well. I’m not liking this very much and am quite worried about the show. If Ep. 3 is as bad as episode two they are going to be in VERY big trouble and I’m wondering if they can keep this going.

Technically, Cougar Town will need 27 episodes for syndication after this season. Would ABC really want to put up with sub-2 ratings for a whole season just so that the show could get a likely not-great syndication deal? Isn’t leaving low-rated shows on the air for far too long part of how NBC ended up where it’s now?

The River didn’t have a big drop, but it was a steady one. Its half hours were: 2.5, 2.4, 2.3, 2.2.

“Hart of Dixie has still shown sign in growth, apart from the fact it’s only stayed steady in demo. It’s been able to grow back up to over 1.60 million, while Ringer, Gossip Girl and 90210 can’t seem to get over 1.35 million.”

I get what you’re saying, however, total viewers is meaningless. What matters is the key demos in which 9O21O consistently does better in compared to RINGER, GOSSIP GIRL, NIKITA AND HART OF DIXIE.

Regardless of why the CW doesn’t air repeats of Supernatural at 8, Mark Pedowitz is on record saying they want fewer repeats on the CW as a whole. While I think that Supernatural repeats would be better than a lot of new episodes the CW airs, there is no way that the netlet would go on record as having an official slot for repeats, especially when they only have 10 hours to schedule. Doing that would mean the CW has officially given up on being a network. They can use repeats if something isn’t working and has to be yanked prematurely (like H8R) but that’s only until a replacement can be put in (Remodeled).

I am aware of their attempt to launch sitcoms, but I still feel that a drama would be a better fit for the post x-factor Wednesday slot.

They would have to wait until November to cut the X-Factor down to one hour and premiere something then. It would have to run three new, one repeat, three new (or just seven new episodes and Thanksgiving eve be damned).

They could then finish off the run in January/February, allowing a week off for Idol’s premiere, before Idol moves back to two hours.

Not the most elegant schedule, but not awful.

One thing that turned me off from Alcatraz was that it basically was turning into a boring procedural. After the second episode failed to really “wow” me and with my DVR already FULL on Mondays, I had to pick Alcatraz to get the boot.

I still have Smash on my DVR, but I can see it start getting really boring and dull.

Any article about the writers and producers being confidant about GG’s renewal is laughable at this point. It’ll be pulling in 0.4s by the end of this season, it’ll be making Remodelled(?) look like a good mid-season replacement next year. In fact, you can read it as “GG heads prepare to disappoint the few viewers they have left with a series finale that satisfies no one”.

I think ABC has had the best and most stable gay couple portrayals in Kevin and Scotty in Brothers & Sisters and Callie and Arizona on Grey’s Anatomy. They are to be commended for their inclusion of the gay community in their primetime programming. NBC is doing better now with Smash and they had openly gay The Voice contestants (unlike a certain Fox singing competition) but out of all of those Thursday comedies, especially Community that tries to be oh so “diverse” I think only The Office has a gay character, which is slightly disappointing. On CBS I think The Good Wife’s Kalinda is the only non-straight character on the network.

Yes, I found HIMYM to be discouraging last night, too. I’m glad Robin isn’t with her former therapist any more (he was nice, but still…), but that’s so she can be free for BARNEY, not TED! Argh. But we know Ted goes on to have kids, and Robin is “Aunt Robin” to those kids – so I bet she either rejects him in the very next scene they have together next week or else, yes, maybe they will try another relationship and it’ll fail. Because she loves Barney!! And I want HIM to marry HER when they bring those wedding scenes around again where Ted meets his future wife! SO aggravating. Pardon my typing outburst. I like the show and I’ll keep watching….but they need to try and wrap things up (or get on the right track so we can trust there’s a good ending even if offscreen – and I want to see the mother!) by what I kind of hope is their final season ending in 2013.

The only other drama on at Wednesdays at 9 now is Criminal Minds, so there isn’t a lot of drama competition. I know that CM gets high ratings, but I still think that if they put up another drama against it, it could do fairly well. Touch premiered well following Idol. If Fox left it there I think that it would of continued to do well.

@June The only reason GG is coming back is because the CW wants to milk it as long as it can. I guess since they are making money off of Hulu and Netflix they dont care about the ratings. The producers of the show asked the executives many times if they should end GG this season, and they kept saying no. Now the producers have said that the finale will have a cliffhanger, and that they are pretty certain GG will get picked. GG is The CWs baby so they will give it a final season even if they dont deserve it.

@Dillan TLG’s ratings are a Season 2B low, which is important. ABCFamily sort of “threw out” its ratings from 1A, because it thought it was placed in a bad timeslot w/o a compatible lead in. Ratings that bad, coming out of its natural pairing with PLL (even out of a lower rated PLL episode) isn’t a good sign.

Like Chaz said, this is its second year experimenting with a full year of original programming (aside from December, when it does its very successful 25 Days of Christmas).

Though at this point, Jane by Design’s ratings are so low that I don’t think anything can save it. That being said, TLG’s numbers from this week are REALLY low. ABC Family has had shows go up against The Voice and shows of its ilk before (MIOBI competed against DWTS last year and drew numbers far superior to TLG’s up against The Voice). I think they have enough information this year (considering this is the second year they’ve done it) to make decisions far more quickly. And they have fewer options this year.

Downwardly Mobile, which could potentially give me my trailer-trash comedy fix if Raising Hope is – heaven forbid – devoured by the Cancellation Bear.) Let me fix:

I like Smash a lot. That and SVU are the only NBC shows I watch. I don’t see the comparisons with Glee at all. Glee is about a high school Glee club, Smash is about the makings of a musical. Smash is a superior show. Glee is cheesier than Velveeta. I’m really glad Smash is doing well.

the only show i watch on nbc is grimm love it they should bring in some combic show like the augaman wonder woman

CBS sure has two cash cows in syndication in The Big Bang Theory and Two and a Half Men. Seems to have helped the former in reaching series high numbers. In fact, I’m watching the episode The Hot Troll Deviation right now on CW20 Knoxville.
