The final season of “The Leftovers” on HBO began with better ratings compared to its Season 2 opener in 2015.

The show drew a 0.4 rating among adults and 895,000 viewers 18-49 Sunday, up from 0.3 and 713,000 for the Season 2 opener. The series finale of “Girls” (0.4, 741,000) finished just outside the Top 25 but tied its season high in adults 18-49, while “Veep” was well below its Season 2 average at 0.3 and 659,000 viewers.

TNT’s coverage of the NBA Playoffs was the biggest draw on cable Sunday, with the Thunder-Rockets matchup finishing No. 1 with a 2.2 and 5.16 million viewers. NBA coverage had five of the Top 6 spots among adults 18-49, with “The Real Housewives of Atlanta” (1.1) breaking up the basketball monopoly.

After a big, 0.8-point drop a week earlier, “Into the Badlands” had a much smaller decline this week, falling a tenth to 0.5.
