The “shocking twist” on the season finale of “The Bachelor” kind of lived up to its billing Monday, and as a result the show earned its best ratings of the season.

The three-hour finale drew a 2.2 rating in adults 18-49, up 0.4 vs. last week and half a point better than the show’s season average. It was also, however, half a point behind last year’s finale.

Head to head from 8 to 10 p.m., “The Voice” topped “The Bachelor.” The NBC show fell 0.3 from its premiere but still scored the best 18-49 rating of the night at 2.5. “Good Girls” (1.3) dipped two tenths from its debut, a pretty good retention given the heavier “Bachelor” competition.

“The Resident” rose a tenth to 0.9 on FOX, but “Lucifer” ticked down to 0.7. CBS’ “Living Biblically” (0.7) was down a tenth in its second week; “Superior Donuts” (0.8, -0.1) also declined, while “Kevin Can Wait” (1.1, +0.1) improved a bit and “Man with a Plan” and “Scorpion” held steady.

“iZombie” dropped a tenth to 0.2 in its second week on The CW. “Legends of Tomorrow” matched last week’s 0.4.

Definitions:

Rating: Estimated percentage of the universe of TV households (or other specified group) tuned to a program in the average minute. Ratings are expressed as a percent.
Fast Affiliate Ratings: These first national ratings are available at approximately 11 a.m. ET the day after telecast. The figures may include stations that did not air the entire network feed, as well as local news breaks or cutaways for local coverage or other programming. Fast Affiliate ratings are not as useful for live programs and are likely to differ significantly from the final results, because the data reflect normal broadcast feed patterns.
Share (of Audience):
The percent of households (or persons) using television who are tuned to a specific program, station or network in a specific area at a specific time.
Time Shifted Viewing:
Program ratings for national sources are produced in three streams of data – Live, Live +Same-Day and Live +7 Day. Time-shifted figures account for incremental viewing that takes place with DVRs. Live+SD includes viewing during the same broadcast day as the original telecast, with a cut-off of 3 a.m. local time when meters transmit daily viewing to Nielsen for processing. Live +7 ratings include  viewing that takes place during the 7 days following a telecast.
