The Season 8 premiere of “The Walking Dead” added 2.2 points to its adults 18-49 rating and 4.28 million viewers with a week of delayed viewing. That’s pretty close to the gains the Season 7 premiere made (2.3, 4.5 million) last year.

That’s the good news. The bad is that even with those gains, the Oct. 22 premiere still lags well behind last season. The show’s 7.2 rating in adults 18-49 is off 33 percent from the 10.7 for last season’s debut in Live +7. In viewers, the premiere’s 15.74 million falls about 27 percent short of Season 7’s 21.53 million.

Here are the top cable shows in the Live +7 rankings for Oct. 16-22, 2017. Rankings include original series, movies and specials only, not repeats.
