The premiere of “The Resident” had a sizable lead over the season’s other rookie medical drama, “The Good Doctor,” in the same-day ratings for the week of Jan. 15. Following the NFC Championship game, “The Resident” earned a 2.6 rating among adults 18-49, while “The Good Doctor” had a 1.7 for its Monday airing.

After three days of delayed viewing, however, “The Good Doctor” caught “The Resident.” The two shows are tied for seventh place in the rankings at 3.1. “The Good Doctor” has been one of TV’s stronger DVR performers this season, so its big gain isn’t much of a surprise — it also had the largest total-viewer boost of the week at 5.34 million.

“This Is Us” got the biggest bump in the 18-49 demographic, growing by 1.8 points (2.5 to 4.3).

Outside the top 25, the premiere of “Black Lightning” grew from 0.8 to 1.2 in adults 18-49 and from 2.31 million to 3.28 million total viewers.
