Season finales dominate the top of the Live +7 ratings for the week of May 22, which contained the final three days of the Nielsen-measured TV season and the start of summer programming.

“Empire” made the biggest gain among adults 18-49, adding 1.3 points to its same-day rating with a week of DVR and on-demand viewing. It finishes with a 3.8.  The finales of “Law & Order: SVU” (+0.9), “Bull” (+0.8) and “The Flash” (+0.8) were next in the rankings.

“Bull” also added the most viewers, growing by 4.15 million people. “The Amazing Race” and “iZombie” tied for the percentage-gain lead in adults 18-49, each growing by 133 percent, and “Prison Break” added the highest percentage of viewers (85 percent).

Here are the Live +7 rankings for May 22-28, 2017. The rankings include first-run series and specials only, not repeats.

In summer when there is less original programming, rankings will be limited to shows that gained at least 0.2 points in adults 18-49 or 250,000 total viewers; in the percentage-gain charts, the cutoff is a 20 percent increase. That may result in fewer than 25 entries.

[…] For example, the season 3 finale of The CW’s The Flash was watched by 3.039 million viewers and received a 1.1 in Adults 18-49 in its L+SD rating. When L+7 numbers are factored in, the viewership grew to 4.855 million and the A18-49 grew to a 1.9, representing a growth of 60% and 73% respectively. Now that viewership isn’t as linear as it once was, these numbers help provide networks with a better idea of exactly how many people are watching their shows and when they do it (source: TVbythenumbers).
