New York – March 23, 2010 – “NBC Nightly News With Brian Williams” was the most watched network evening newscast for the week of March 15-21, 2010, according to Nielsen Media Research data. During the week, “Nightly” saw 8.133 million total viewers, +924,000 more than ABC “World News,’” 7.209 million and +2.907 million more than CBS “Evening News’” 5.226 million. Last week marked the first full week of Daylight Saving Time. Additionally, CBS Evening News is based on a 3-day average due to NCAA Basketball.

Season-to-date, “Nightly” leads “World News” by +1.269 million total viewers and is the only newscast to show growth versus the same period last season.

Last week, “Nightly” also led in the key demo adults 25-54.  “Nightly” delivered a 1.9 rating A25-54, ahead of “World News’” 1.6 and “Evening News’” 1.3. With 2.363 million A25-54 (000) viewers last week, the newscast beat “World News” by +417,000 viewers. Season-to-date, “Nightly” leads “World News” by +520,000 A25-54 viewers. This is the 69th consecutive week “Nightly” has topped “World News” in this key demo.

As the number one network broadcast last week, “Nightly News” delivered a 5.5/12 Household rating, with “World News” in second place with a 4.9/11, and “Evening News” in third with a 3.5/7.

On its digital platforms, “Nightly” continued its strong performance last week with more than 4.2 million online streams for the week ending March 13, 2010.
