Months ago (January 14, to be precise) CBS announced the renewal of The Good Wife.  Back then, it was pulling around a 3.0 adults 18-49 rating, but back then its 10pm broadcast competition was, in case you didn’t remember, The Forgotten and The Jay Leno Show.

Times change and timeslot competition changes, too.  In the wake of last night’s preliminary 2.2 adults 18-49 for The Good Wife, some people are wondering whether CBS renewed the show too soon.  Granting that it’s possible there might have been a host of factors besides just the ratings that were behind the early renewal, with 20/20 ratings hindsight, it seems like a reasonable question to ask.

As a big fan of The Good Wife (Tuesdays at 10p on CBS!) its renewal did not come too soon for me.
