NBC has renewed its competition show “American Ninja Warrior” for a new season in 2017.

Depending on how you count, the renewal is for either Season 6 or Season 9. The show aired on what was then G4 for its first three seasons before moving to NBC full-time in 2012. That season also had competitors aiming toward a U.S.-based final round rather than moving onto the Japanese obstacle course that was the basis for “American Ninja Warrior.”

The finale of the current season is set for Monday night.

“American Ninja Warrior” has been a solid performer for NBC, averaging a 1.8 same-day rating in adults 18-49 and 6.31 million viewers this season (vs. 1.9 and 6.54 million viewers in 2015).
