NBC has ordered a fourth new drama for 2017-18, a thriller starring Sarah Shahi called “Reverie.”

The show joins previous pickups “The Brave,” “Good Girls” and “Rise.”

“Reverie” comes from “Extant” creator Mickey Fisher and centers on Shahi’s character, a former hostage negotiator turned college professor. The skills from her former career come into use again when she’s asked to help “save ordinary people who have lost themselves in a highly advanced virtual-reality program in which you can literally live your dreams.”

The cast also includes Dennis Haysbert, Jessica Lu, Sendhil Ramamurthy and Kathryn Morris.

“Reverie” will be Shahi’s first full-time series role since “Person of Interest” ended last year. She guest-starred on a couple episodes of FOX’s “Pitch” earlier this season.
