FOX announced Sunday that its “Batman” prequel series, “Gotham,” has been renewed for a fifth and final season, the news of which comes just a few hours after the network also renewed “Lethal Weapon” for another season.

So with these two announcements today, FOX has now renewed a total of 11 shows for the 2018-19 TV season, including “The Gifted,” “9-1-1,” ““The Orville,” “Empire,” “Star,” “The Resident,” “Family Guy,” “Bob’s Burgers,” and “The Simpsons.”

The renewals came as FOX also canceled several of its fan-favorite dramas like “Lucifer” and “The Exorcist,” and laid waste to almost all of its single-camera comedies, including “Brooklyn Nine-Nine” (which has since been saved by NBC), “Last Man on Earth,” and “The Mick.”

“Gotham’s” renewal has been hard to predict throughout the week. The series has averaged a 0.8 rating in adults 18-49 throughout its fourth season, down three-tenths from its third season’s 1.1 average. But now, this renewal will allow the show’s creators to bring its story to, hopefully, a satisfying conclusion for fans.

The renewal announcement comes just ahead of the “Gotham” Season 4 finale, set to air on the network May 17.
