“It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia” and FXX have carved out a place in TV history.
FXX has renewed the show for a 13th and 14th season, which will make a co-holder of the record for longest-running live-action comedy in TV history. (“The Adventures of Ozzie and Harriet also ran for 14 seasons and had far more episodes.)
The show was already renewed through Season 12 in 2017, and the two-season pickup will take it almost to the end of the decade.
“Few shows make it this far or have such devoted fans, and we owe it all the creative vision and great humor of the creators and cast who keep ‘Sunny’ fresh and inventive every season,” FX Networks head of original programming Nick Grad says in a statement.
The show’s recently concluded 11th season averaged 1.4 million viewers (Live +7) and 1.1 million adults 18-49.
