FOX has decided to take its relationship with summer series “Love Connection” to the next level.
The network announced Thursday it’s ordering a second season of the show, with Andy Cohen set to return as host and co-executive producer. “Love Connection” has been a decent ratings performer this summer.
It joins Thursday-night companion “Beat Shazam” in earning a second season.
“Andy Cohen is a phenomenal host, not only because he has brought so much fun to the show but also because he truly wants these participants to find love, and that genuine level of interest enables him to elicit both touching and hilariously awkward dating moments from them,” Rob Wade, head of alternative entertainment and specials for FOX, says in a statement. “I’d also like to thank [executive producers] Mike Darnell and Mike Fleiss, who, along with Andy, have helped redefine this show.”
“Love Connection” averages a 0.95 rating among adults 18-49 and 3.07 million viewers for initial airings on FOX. The revival of the long-running syndicated show isn’t a huge DVR performer, typically rising a couple tenths of a point with a week of delayed viewing.
It joins these shows that have been renewed for 2017-18 and beyond.
