Viewers will get to see more from Harlee Santos, as NBC has officially renewed “Shades of Blue” for a third season, the network announced Friday.
Starring Jennifer Lopez in the lead role, alongside Ray Liotta, Drea De Matteo, Warren Kole and more, the third season will reportedly consist of 10 episodes.
“We’re so hugely appreciative of everything Jennifer and Ray do, and know it is due to their dedication, as well as the hard work of our incredible cast and producers, that ‘Shades of Blue’ has so clearly and compellingly earned a third-season renewal,” NBC Entertainment president Jennifer Salke says in a statement. “This show continues to mine powerful stories that always leave us hungry for more.”
Hailing from creator Adi Hasak and showrunner Jack Orman, “Shades of Blue” focuses on a single mother (Lopez), who works as a police detective while harboring dark secrets of her own. In addition to starring in it, Lopez is also an executive producer for “Shades of Blue,” which is currently just two episodes into it second season, after premiering earlier this month.
The early renewal is a mild surprise, as the show has performed OK in its first two episodes this season, but at numbers below its Season 1 average. It premiered to a 1.0 rating in the adults 18-49 demographic, while the second episode drew a 0.9. The premiere grew to a 1.6 with three days of delayed viewing.
With its renewal, “Shades of Blue” now joins a number of other series already renewed for NBC’s 2017-18 season including “The Good Place,” “Superstore” and freshman hit “This Is Us.”
