Get ready for a bunch more Sunday Fundays on FXX: “You’re the Worst” has been picked up for a third season.
The show will return with new episodes in summer 2016. Creator Stephen Falk has also signed a deal with FX Networks and FX Productions to develop new series.
“Stephen is one of the best new talents in comedy — as funny, thoughtful and original as ‘You’re the Worst,’ and we can’t wait to see what he comes up with next,” FX Networks head of original programming Nick Grad says. “‘You’re the Worst,’ already one of the most critically acclaimed comedies on television, is also one of the most innovative, something Stephen and the cast will continue in the much deserved third season.”
Ratings for the series took a hit in Season 2 as it moved from FX to FXX. Recent episodes of the show have averaged a 0.3 in adults 18-49 in Live +3, which FX and FXX use as their benchmark. It is, however, a young audience: More than 80 percent of the show’s total audience falls in the 18-49 demo, and more than 40 percent of viewers are in the 18-34 demo.
“You’re the Worst” joins these shows in being renewed for 2016 and beyond.
