“GMA” Cuts Total Viewing Gap with NBC’s “Today” Week-to-Week and Year-to-Year

“GMA” Expands Total Viewing Advantage Over CBS’ “Early Show” Week-to-Week and Year-to-Year

ABC’s “Good Morning America” averaged 4.73 million Total Viewers and a 1.4/10/1.79 million in Adults 25-54 for the week of February 14, 2011.  “GMA” improved on its year-ago week performance in Total Viewers (+5%) for the 6th straight week, growing on the same week last year on 19 of 22 weeks this season. In addition, “GMA” is the only morning program to grow its Total Viewer audience over the year-ago week.

Season to date, “GMA” is the only morning program up compared to the competition in Total Viewers (+5%) versus its year-ago average (NBC’s “Today” is down -4%, CBS’ “Early Show” is flat).

“GMA” narrowed its margins with “Today” in both Total Viewers (-4%, 720,000) and Adults 25-54 (-19%, 640,000) compared to the previous week.  “GMA” posted its second-smallest gap of the season with “Today” in the key adult news demo. Additionally, “GMA” closed its margins with the NBC program by double-digits versus the same week last year in both Total Viewers (-62%) and Adults 25-54 (-37%).

“GMA” beat CBS’ “Early Show” by 2.01 million Total Viewers and by 590,000 Adults 25-54 viewers. In addition, “GMA” expanded its Total Viewer lead over the CBS program by +2% week-to-week and by +23% year-to-year.

*Note: On Tue 2/15/11, GMA aired with low coverage (84%) for 29 mins from 7:58-8:27 a.m. due to being preempted for a special report on President Obama’s Press Conference; this portion of “GMA” was broken out & ratings are excluded from the average.

The Emmy Award-winning morning news program, featuring the anchor team of Robin Roberts, George Stephanopoulos, Sam Champion and Juju Chang, airs live Monday through Friday from 7:00-9:00 a.m., ET on the ABC Television Network.
