“GMA” Only Morning Program to Increase in Total Viewers Year-to-Year and Season-to-Date

“GMA” Cuts Total Viewing Gap with NBC’s “Today” Week-to-Week and Year-to-Year: Marks Smallest Weekly Gaps with NBC in Nearly 2 ½ Years

“GMA” Expands Total Viewing Lead Over CBS’ “Early Show” Year-to-Year

ABC’s “Good Morning America” averaged 4.38 million Total Viewers and a 1.3/10/1.56 million among Adults 25-54 for the week of December 27, 2010. “GMA” increased +13% in Total Viewers compared to last year, standing as the only network morning news program to post year-to-year increases. “GMA” increased among Total Viewers for the 3rd week in a row, improving upon the same week last year in viewers in 13 of 15 weeks this season.

Season-to-date, “GMA” grew +4% in Total Viewers compared to the same week last year (NBC’s “Today” is down -4%, CBS’ “Early Show” is flat).

“GMA” narrowed the weekly total viewing gap (520,000) by -36% and the Adults 25-54 gap (580,000) by -27% with “Today,” marking the narrowest gap between the two programs this season in both measures. In fact, it was the smallest weekly total viewing gap between “GMA” and “Today” in nearly 2 1/2 years – since the week of 7/14/08. Versus the same week last year, ABC shrank the total viewing gap with NBC by -56%.

“GMA” expanded its Total Viewer advantage over “Early Show” by +40% compared to the same week last year.

*Note: Due to the New Year’s Eve holiday, ABC, CBS, and NBC were coded as specials and excluded from the weekly average.

The Emmy Award-winning morning news program, featuring the anchor team of Robin Roberts, George Stephanopoulos, Sam Champion and Juju Chang, airs live Monday through Friday from 7:00-9:00 a.m. ET on the ABC Television Network. Jim Murphy is the senior executive producer and Tom Cibrowski is the executive producer of ABC’s “Good Morning America.”
