NEW YORK ? July 23, 2009 ? “Meet the Press with David Gregory” was the most-watched Sunday morning public affairs program in all categories for the week ending July 19, 2009, according to Nielsen Media Research data. The Gregory-moderated broadcast was No. 1, delivering 2.794 million total viewers, +27% more (+594,000) than second place CBS “Face The Nation’s” 2.200 million and a +168% lead (+1,753,000) over FOX News Sunday’s 1.041 million. Please note: “This Week” did not air due to sports coverage.
In Washington, D.C., “Meet the Press” was top rated with 75,000 total viewers (2.9/9 HH), a +200% advantage over CBS’s 25,000 viewers (1.1/3), and a huge +733% lead over FOX’s 9,000 viewers (0.4/1).
In homes nationally, the NBC program placed first with a 2.0 rating and 6 share. CBS was second with a 1.6/5 rating and FOX placed third with a 0.8/2 rating.
Among adults 25-54, “Meet the Press” posted a 0.7 rating. CBS was second with a 0.6 rating and FOX had a 0.3 rating.
On its digital platforms, “Meet the Press” generated more than 271,000 online video streams from July 19 through July 22, 2009. The “Meet the Press” video podcast (available at http://www.mtp.msnbc.com) remains the top ranked network Sunday Morning program podcast on iTunes.
Last week’s show featured an exclusive interviews with Kathleen Sebelius, Secretary of the Department of Health and Human Services and Senate Republican Leader Sen. Mitch McConnell (R-KY). The roundtable included Paul Gigot, Editorial Page Editor of the Wall Street Journal; John Harwood, CNBC’s Chief Washington Correspondent and of the New York Times; Michele Norris, Host of NPR’s “All Things Considered,” and Richard Wolffe, author of “Renegade: The Making of a President.”
