For the Week of July 19-23, 2010

“GMA” Only Morning Show to Gain Total Viewers Week to Week and Year to Year,

and to Increase Adult 25-54 Demo Viewers Week to Week

“GMA” Cuts Both Total Viewing Gap with NBC Week to Week and Year to Year,

and Adult 25-54 Gap Week to Week

“GMA” Extends Both Demo and Total Viewing Advantages Over CBS Week to Week

and Year to Year — Largest Weekly Gaps Since May

For the week of July 19, 2010, ABC’s “Good Morning America” averaged 3.87 million Total Viewers and a 1.2/11 among Adults 25-54. Versus last year, ABC was the only program to grow among Total Viewers (+1%) versus the same week last year, while NBC (-2%) and CBS (-12%) both fell.

Week to week, “GMA” was the only morning program to experience growth among both Adults 25-54 (+6%) and Total Viewers (+2%).  NBC’s “Today” and CBS’ “Early Show” both lost Adult 25-54 and Total Viewers versus the prior week. In fact, “Early Show” fell to its lowest total viewer number in over seven years (week of 6/23/03) and lowest demo delivery in four years (week of 7/17/06).

“GMA” continues to reduce the viewing gaps with “Today,” both week to week and year to year. Compared to the previous week, “GMA” shrank the Adult 25-54 gap by -19% and the Total Viewing gap by -12% with NBC.  Year to year, the total viewing gap between the two programs was -11% smaller.

In addition, “GMA’s” viewing lead over CBS’ “Early Show” grew both week to week (Adults 25-54: +24%, Total Viewers: +7%) and year to year (Adults 25-54: +18%; Total Viewers: +20%). These are the largest weekly demo and total viewing gaps between the two shows since May.

The Emmy Award-winning morning news program, featuring the anchor team of Robin Roberts, George Stephanopoulos, Sam Champion and Juju Chang, airs live Monday through Friday from 7:00-9:00 a.m. ET on the ABC Television Network. Jim Murphy is the senior executive producer and Tom Cibrowski is the executive producer of ABC’s “Good Morning America.”
