LOS ANGELES, July 14, 2011 – Dating back to 2002 when Michael Chiklis kicked down Emmy’s door for ad-supported cable television, no other basic cable network can match FX’s overall track record for Emmy actor nominations. Today the network continued its successful run in the Emmy acting categories taking home five nominations.

The critically acclaimed drama series Justified led FX in Emmy nominations with four. Timothy Olyphant earned his first Emmy nomination for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series for his portrayal of “Deputy U.S. Marshall Raylan Givens.”  Walton Goggins received his first Emmy nomination for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series for his role as “Boyd Crowder.”  As the evil matriarch of a Kentucky crime clan, “Mags Bennett,” Margo Martindale was rewarded with her first Emmy nomination for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series. Jeremy Davies also picked up his first Emmy nomination for Outstanding Guest Actor in a Drama Series as Mags’ ne’er-do-well son, “Dickie Bennett.”

On the comedy side, Louis C.K. received an Emmy nomination for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy for his acclaimed comedy series, Louie, and he also earned an Emmy nod for Outstanding Writing for a Comedy Series. C.K. is the first actor from an FX comedy series to be nominated for Outstanding Lead Actor, and the second writer to earn a nomination for Outstanding Writing for a Comedy Series (Robb Cullen & Mark Cullen received a writing nomination Lucky in 2003).
