Finalists Are Announced In Categories Including Most Egregious Product Placement and Neverending Subplot That Most Needs to be Resolved

NEW YORK – JULY 25, 2011 –, the television fan’s ultimate website, today opens voting for the final round of its annual Tubey Awards, which offers small screen viewers an opportunity to show their support for both loved and loathed characters, shows, plot lines, and moments from the 2010-2011 television season.

Finalists were decided by fans who participated in semi-final voting over the past several weeks. In this year’s first week of voting alone, one million votes were cast, indicating that this year’s voting is on pace to exceed last year’s 3.2 million total votes.

In addition to being one of the most popular fan-driven entertainment awards, the one-of-a-kind Tubey Awards are also the broadest, with 10 finalists nominated in 77 categories. The Tubey’s cater to TV fans by offering no-holds-barred, ultra-unique categories like “Most Welcome New Character” and “Most Disappointing Season of a Previously Awesome Show,” alongside more traditional categories like “Favorite Actor” and “Best Drama.”

Among the 77 categories and 770 nominees are:

  • Most Likeable Geek – nominees range from Abed (Community) to Spinelli (General Hospital)
  • Most Appalling Reality Show Star – finalists include Gretchen Jones (Project Runway) and Bentley (The Bachelorette)
  • Best Performance By An Inanimate Object – nominees include Annie’s Missing Pen (Community) and Damon Salvatore’s Bathroom (The Vampire Diaries)

“With its wide array of quirky categories, the Tubey Awards represent the wide-ranging interests and opinions of real, everyday TV consumers whose passions are not always reflected by the many honors the industry hands out each year,” said Daniel Manu, Site Director of “The Tubeys celebrate the programming that millions of viewers love – or love to hate – and give true fans an outlet to let their voices be heard.”

Each week from July 25-August 29, the nominees in 12-15 new categories will be unveiled and voters will have one week to cast their support for their favorite nominees. At the end of the 6-week voting period, 77 award winners will be announced on September 12, one week before the Primetime Emmys. Voting will take place at
