Tuesday’s Episode Among Oxygen’s Top Five Best-Telecasts-Ever In Key Demos
NEW YORK — January 14, 2009 – Tuesday’s premiere episode of Oxygen’s “Bad Girls Club” (“The Tipping Point”) became the show’s most watched telecast of the season, according to Nielsen Media Research. The episode was among one of Oxygen’s best telecasts ever, with the second-largest W18-34 audience for a telecast in network history; it was also the network’s best overall Tuesday primetime ( 8P-11P) result among W18-34. For the hour, Oxygen was the number three cable network among W18-34. The episode was also the network’s number five most-watched telecast ever for W18-49, P18-49 and total viewers.
The episode drew in 834,000 P18-49 (a 38% increase compared to the previous episode), 634,000 W18-49 (a 39% increase), 498,000 W18-34 (a 35% increase) and 1.1 million total viewers (a 32% increase).
Oxygen’s digital properties delivered increases as well, with the show’s website registering 3.4 million page views and 592,000 video streams in the week leading up to Tuesday’s episode. Compared to last week, the website is up 54% in page views and 83% in video streams. Last night, sign ups for the “Bad Girls Club” mobile group grew by 25%, a record registration amount for a single day. Oxygen’s “Tuesday Tweet” also garnered its heaviest participation last night, with a 10% increase of fans twittering, compared to last week.
This season introduced new online features including live twittering, where fans can interact and chat during the show; an e-commerce initiative, allowing fans to purchase Bad Girls Club merchandise such as yoga pants and jewelry; and exclusive bonus footage on the o2 video player and games.
