DELIVERS 4.8 P12-34 RATING UP 92% FROM 2008

The 2009 MTV Movie Awards delivered a 4.8 P12-34 rating, up 92% from 2008 and its strongest rating since the 2004 MTV Movie Awards. The show also delivered an average audience of 5.3 million viewers, up 78% year-to-year, and the largest audience since the 2004 Movie Awards. The 2009 MTV Movie Awards is MTV’s highest rated telecast since the 2008 VMAs (9/7/08) and the show improved its time period by over 500%. Finally, simulcast on MTV2, the Movie Awards delivered the network’s strongest P12-34 ratings since the 2008 VMAs and improved its time period by 287%.

MTV.COM SUCCESS has also experienced a surge over the 2008 MTV Movie Awards.  On Sunday, unique visitors to the Movie Awards site nearly doubled versus the date of the 2008 show (6/1/08), with a 205% increase in the Awards show’s page views, and a 110% increase in Movie Awards-specific video streams. Movie Awards focused content comprised over half of’s total traffic on Sunday with overall unique visitors, page views, and video streams all experiencing nearly 100% growth year-over-year.

Bigger traffic numbers have historically come the day after and so far this year is no exception. As of mid-day on Monday, 6/1/09, the Movie Awards have already surpassed 2008’s ‘day-after’ stream traffic by a significant margin.  There have been 3.5M streams, compared to 2008’s 2.9M on its full day-after (6/2).  The Brüno/Eminem clip is the top clip, delivering 800K streams, followed by the ‘New Moon’ trailer, which has generated 510K today thus far.
