May 8 Futbol Match at 9 p.m. Brings Highest Ratings in History of Network Among Total Viewers, Adults 18-49; Network Wins Time-Period with All Hispanic Viewers

UNIVERSAL CITY, CA –  May 9, 2013 – mun2, the Hispanic entertainment cable network,  had over a half a million adults 18-49 (507k) and almost 800 thousand total viewers (780k) watch the first leg of the Liguilla semi-final futbol match of Leon vs Toluca on Thursday, May 8, according to Nielsen.  mun2 reached its highest audiences ever for any program on the network with this game and out-delivered Fox Deportes’ recent Super Bowl XLVIII transmission (369K adults 18-49). The live telecast made mun2 the #2 most watched cable network during the 9-11p.m. time period across English or Spanish cable networks with Hispanic adults 18-49.  Additionally, mun2 hit the #1 spot with total Hispanic viewers  in all of cable, regardless of language and delivered the highest primetime (7p/11p) performance in the network’s history with an average of 274K adults 18-49, beating the prior record of 191K adults 18-49 on 12/12/07

Prior to ‘Leon vs Toluca’ last night mun2 highest rated transmission came back in 2012 during the CONCACAF telecast which delivered 311K adults 18-49 (El Salvador vs Honduras, 3/31/12, 6p).

In a closely contested match, Club León’s Luis Montes showed why he deserves a spot on Mexico’s World Cup squad by securing the decisive goal in Club León’s 1-0 victory over Toluca in the first leg of their Liguilla semifinal on Thursday night. Montes goal came on a well-placed header in the 24th minute. Both teams mustered opportunities to change the score after, but the defenses held firm to give León the lead.
