Destination America’s hit series BBQ PITMASTERS is back baby, premiering an all-new season Sunday, June 2 at 9 PM E/P!
This time, it’s anything but the pits with double the number of competitors and an upped the ante, teaming with Kansas City Barbecue Society (KCBS) and Memphis BBQ Network (MBN) to spotlight the best BBQ festivals across the country, from Austin, TX all the way to NYC. Follow a revolving cast of top pitmasters as they compete for local bragging rights and entry into an unprecedented three rounds of semifinals.
Returning judges include the “winningest” man in BBQ, Myron Mixon, alongside Tuffy Stone, and each week will feature a surprise guest judge. At the end of the season, only one will be crowned the ultimate BBQ Pitmaster, earning the title, $50,000 from Kingsford Charcoal, and entry into the Kingsford Invitational.
Leading up to the new season is Destination America’s inaugural MEAT WEEK. From Monday, May 27 to Saturday, June 1, Destination America rings the Memorial Day dinner bell for the unofficial start of grilling season with nightly primetime marathons dedicated to timeless cook-out traditions, BBQ, beef, and bacon.

Three Pitmasters have come from all over the country to show off their best pork spare ribs and pork butt at the Smokin’ in the Square Festival in Pensacola, Fla. Eric Thomas, the fun loving Pitmaster of The Rolling Grill, is here to prove the best barbecue only comes from Georgia. And hailing from California, barbecuer and caterer “Big Jim” Modesitt is hoping to use his organic herbs and spices to put Big Jim’s BBQ, and San Francisco barbecue, on the map.
