TLC PLEDGES TO BRING AMERICAN TRADITION TO THE UK
SORORITY GIRLS initiation begins Tuesday, January 31st at 9PM ET/PT on TLC
(Los Angeles, CA)- For nearly two centuries, college students across America have collectively connected through fraternities and sororities, and TLC has picked up a series following the journey of five Sorority ‘Sisters’ who attempt to establish Britain’s first ever sorority- Sigma Gamma. Sororities are an institution unique to the U.S and TLC’s SORORITY GIRLS follows along as these five American society girls pack up their suitcases and head to Leeds to bring their traditions of exclusivity and glamour to the UK.
Over eight weeks, the girls recruit eager candidates see if they have what it takes to ‘Go Greek’ and battle it out to earn one of five coveted spots. Gaining membership into this ultra-private club won’t be easy though; these ladies of Leeds will be monitored 24/7 and will experience all aspects of pledging including rush week, door chants, secret handshakes and preference night rituals. In the end, the initiated Sigma Gamma ‘sisters’ will be responsible to continue the duties of the sorority after the Americans have packed up and gone home. SORORITY GIRLS explores if English tradition can mix with this American custom and all that comes with rushing to get in. Initiation begins on Tuesday, January 31st at 9PM ET/PT only on TLC.
