With weekend telecasts of the first three Shrek movies leading the way, TBS scored a big win for the week, ranking as ad-supported cable’s #1 network in primetime among adults 18-34 and adults 18-49.
Shrek the Third premiered with back-to-back telecasts Saturday, with the 8:55 p.m. telecast finishing as ad-supported cable’s #1 movie for the week among total viewers (3 million). Meanwhile, the Sunday 9:55 p.m. telecast was the #1 movie telecast among adults 18-34 (891,000) and adults 18-49 (1.5 million.)
TBS’s multiplay stategy for the Shrek movies paid off handsomely, with the three animated blockbusters scoring ad-supported cable’s top six movie telecasts for the week among adults 18-34 and six of the top seven movie telecasts among adults 18-49.
TBS’s comedy lineup continued to dominate the competition last week, with The Office leading Tyler Perry’s Meet the Browns and Friends as ad-supported cable’s top three sitcoms among adults 18-34. The three shows also took the sitcom spots among adults 18-49, with Meet the Browns leading the pack.
truTV enjoyed a strong performance last week, ranking among ad-supported cable’s Top 10 networks in primetime delivery of men 18-49 (289,000).
The Smoking Gun Presents: World’s Dumbest… (Thursday 9 p.m.) continued to build on its recent success, ranking among cable’s Top 5 programs in its time period among adults 18-49 (905,000); men 18-34 (215,000); and men 18-49 (527,000). The show also sparked truTV to a Top 5 cable ranking for the night in primetime among men 18-49 (390,000).
truTV’s new series, Over the Limit, wrapped up its first season on Sunday. The series’ eight first-season episodes averaged 1.3 million viewers; 568,000 adults 18-49; and 321,000 men 18-49, with solid growth over the same time period last year.
