TELEMUNDO MEDIA DELIVERS NETWORK’S BEST OCTOBER PERFORMANCE AMONG TOTAL VIEWERS, UP 5%
Network Delivered Year-Over-Year Growth for Third Consecutive October During Monday to Sunday Primetime Among Total Viewers and Adults 18-49
MIAMI – October 29, 2013 — Telemundo Media delivered the best October ratings in the network’s history, among total viewers delivering 1.2 million, up 5% over last year and up 4% (619,000 vs. 593,000) among adults 18-49 during Monday through Sunday primetime programming, according to Nielsen. The network also saw a year-over-year increase for the third consecutive October among Monday-Sunday primetime in key demos with a best share performance of 24% for total viewers, up 2 share points and 25% for adults 18-49, up 3 points vs. last year.
The network also saw a 4% year-over-year increase for October among Monday-Sunday primetime in adults 18-34 with a best share performance of 26%, up 4 points vs. last year in this demo. In addition, while Telemundo delivered increases year-over-year Monday-Sunday primetime in total viewers, adults 18-49 and adults 18-34, Univision and Unimas declined in these demos.
Telemundo’s lineup of specials propelled the network to its best October performance, led by the live broadcast of the third annual “Billboard Mexican Music Awards” on October 9th which reached over 4 million total viewers and nearly 2.2 million adults 18-49, according to Nielsen.
Deportes Telemundo’s “Rumbo al Mundial” game with Mexico vs. Costa Rica on October 15th reached 8 million total viewers and 4.7 million adults 18-49, ranking as the #1 program on Spanish-language television, according to Nielsen. The highly-anticipated match also outperformed FOX’s entire primetime lineup, as well as ABC’s programming from 9 to 11 p.m. ET among adults 18-49, and ranked #1 regardless of language among total viewers in Los Angeles, Miami, Houston and Dallas.
Telemundo’s Spanish premiere of “The Expendables,” the high octane action hit film starring Sylvester Stallone, Jason Statham, Bruce Willis, and Jet Li on October 20th delivered 1,364,000 total viewers and 842,000 among adults 18-49 and ranked as the #1 Spanish-language movie in primetime, season-to-date.
