VELOCITY KICKS OFF 2014 WITH ITS BEST JANUARY EVER
— Double Digit Growth Among Key Males Demos Lead Tie For Watched Month Ever —
(Silver Spring Md.) – Velocity was a driving force with viewers this month delivering its most watched January ever. Discovery Communication’s home for car enthusiasts experienced a strong start the the new year despite competition from newly launched networks targeted at the same demographic. Driven by popular programs, GRAVEYARD CARS and CHASING CLASSIC CARS, Velocity racked-up double-digit ratings growth in Primetime in P/M18-49 and P/M18-34 and in Total Day across all demo targets. Velocity also boasted double and triple digit delivery increases in both Prime and Total Day across all demos. This success continues Velocity’s 20 straight months of year-on-year delivery growth in Primetime for P/M25-54 and P/M18-49.
Additionally, during the week of 1/6/14 -1/12/14, Velocity delivered its largest ever primetime weekly audience for M/18-49 led by the return of breakout franchise GRAVEYARD CARZ with ratings nearly double the VEL 2013 prime premiere average.
Competitively, Velocity climbed 8 spots in the cable rankings this month (to #52 among men) and out-rated competitive networks (NFLN, NBAT, NBCS, FS1, GOLF, MLBN, and ESQ) on the M25-54 target.
January ’14 tied for the highest-rated month ever on Velocity for P/M18-49 and P/M18-34 in Primetime and Total Day.
