ABC’s weekly Live + Same Day Adult 18-49 average is projected to increase 30% to a 2.2 rating in Live + 3 Day and build 38% to a 2.3 rating in Live + 7 Day.


Week No. 39 (Live + Same Day)

Celebrity – CBS and Fox tied) and by 42% in Adults 18-49 (1.7/7 vs. 1.2/5 – NBC and Fox tied). In fact the Net ranked No. 1 in Adults 18-49 for the 8th time in the past 9 weeks.


·         ABC was up year to year for the 3rd week running, gaining 2.1 million viewers and 70% in Adults 18-49 from the same week last year.


Rankings: ABC aired 7 of the Top 15 TV programs in Adults 18-49 (the most for any net), including the No. 1 show overall with the 2015 NBA Finals Game 6, the No. 1 entertainment series with “Celebrity Family Feud” and the No. 1 newsmagazine with “20/20:”: “NBA Finals on ABC-GM 6” – No. 1, “Celebrity Family Feud” – No. 3, “NBA Countdown-GM 6” – No. 5, “BattleBots” – No. 6, “The Bachelorette” – No. 7, while “Jimmy Kimmel Live Game Night 6” and “20/20” tied at No. 11. The Net delivered 5 of the Top 10 most-watched TV programs overall for the week: “NBA Finals on ABC-GM6” – No. 1, “Celebrity Family Feud” – No. 3, “20/20” (most-watched summer telecast since 2006) – No. 6, “NBA Countdown-GM 6” – No. 8 and “The Bachelorette” – No. 10.



ABC ran a strong second on Monday to NBC with the Stanley Cup Finals GM 6 in Total Viewers (5.5 million) and Adults 18-49 (1.5/5), while winning the night with Women 18-34ABC’s “The Bachelorette” stood as Monday’s No. 1 TV series in Total Viewers, Adults 18-49 and Adults 18-34 (5th week in a row).


“The Bachelorette” (8:00-10:01 p.m. – 6.3 million and 1.8/6 in AD18-49):

From 8:00-10:01 p.m. against the Stanley Cup Finals, ABC’s “The Bachelorette” took second its 2-hour slot and defeated Fox’s “So You Think You Can Dance” head to head by 2.0 million viewers (6.3 million vs. 4.3 million) and by 38% in Adults 18-49 (1.8/6 vs. 1.3/4).

·         “The Bachelorette” held even week to week and grew from its year-ago telecast for the 3rd week in a row in Adults 18-49 (1.8/6 vs. 1.7/5 on 6/16/14).


“The Whispers” (10:01-11:00 p.m. – 3.9 million and 0.9/3 in AD18-49):

During the 10:01 p.m. hour, ABC’s “The Whispers” ranked No. 2 to NBC’s Stanly Cup coverage in Adults 18-49 (0.9/3-tie) among the broadcasters and was steady with its week-ago telecast (1.0/3). “The Whispers” improved its hour for ABC from the year-ago night with original programming by 5% in Total Viewers (3.9 million vs.  3.7 million for “Mistresses” on 6/16/14).

·         Based on Live + 3 Day data for last Monday’s telecast, “The Whispers” continued to deliver strong TV playback, spiking 60% over its L+SD  Adult 18-49 rating (1.0 to a 1.6) – up from a 53% jump for its week-earlier debut telecast.  The new ABC drama also added another 1.9 million Total Viewers (+45%) after 3 days of TV playback, drawing an average audience of 6.1 million viewers in L3.


For the 6th time in as many nights with 2015 NBA Finals coverage, ABC beat the other nets combined in Adults 18-49 during prime (+20% – 6.0/20 vs. 5.0/16 – CBS, NBC, Fox and CW). ABC was also the most-watched network, nearly doubling runner-up NBC’s “America’s Got Talent”-led lineup (+93% – 16.0 million vs. 8.3 million).

·         The Net delivered its most-watched Tuesday in 4 years and its top-rated among Adults 18-49 in 10-1/2 years – since 5/24/11 and 01/04/05, respectively

“Jimmy Kimmel Live Game Night 6” (Various Time Periods)

Airing around the NBA Finals in various time periods throughout the country, “Jimmy Kimmel Live Game Night” specials increased the exposure for the ABC late-night talker in primetime. “Jimmy Kimmel Live Game Night 6” marked the annual special’s top numbers on any night since it debuted in 2008 with Total Viewers (4.7 million) and Adults 18-49 (1.4/5-tie). In fact the Top 2 telecasts for “Kimmel Game Night” came during 2015, with last Thursday’s broadcast ranking No. 2 (6/11/15).


·         On average, “Kimmel Game Night” was up over last year in both Total Viewers (+8% – 3.9 million vs. 3.6 million) and Adults 18-49 (+9% – 1.2/5 vs. 1.1/4), delivering the special’s best results in its 8-year history.


·         During its 6-night 2015 run on average, “Kimmel Game Night” shot up by 1.0 million viewers (3.9 million vs. 2.9 million) and by 100% in Adults 18-49 (1.2/5 vs. 0.6/3) from the show’s 2014-15 season averages in late-night.  In fact, ABC’s “Kimmel” just finished its most-watched season ever with its 5th consecutive year of growth in late-night.

“NBA Finals on ABC Game 6” (9:00 p.m. – 12:00 a.m. E.T.)

ABC’s 2015 NBA Finals closed out with its highest numbers and towered over primetime as the No. 1 TV program for its 6th straight broadcast in Total Viewers (23.3 million) and all key Adult demos: A18-34 (8.8/35), A18-49 (8.9/29) and A25-54 (9.4/27). The Golden State Warriors defeated the Cleveland Cavaliers by a score of 105-97 to win the best-of-seven series 4-2. With more than 5 million tweets (5,053,627 tweets), the NBA Finals was Tuesday’s most-social TV telecast with the 2015 series’ top number.

·         The 2015 NBA Finals Game 6 was up from the most-recent sixth game in 2013 (Miami-San Antonio on 6/18/13) among both Total Viewers (+13% – 23.3 million vs. 20.6 million) and Adults 18-49 (+5% – 8.9/29 vs. 8.5/25).

·         On average, the 2015 NBA Finals finished up strong double digits year over year in Total Viewers (+29% – 19.9 million vs. 15.6 million) and Adults 18-49 (+25% – 7.6/26 vs. 6.1/20), qualifying as the series’ most-watched-ever performance on ABC (since beginning carriage in 2003) and biggest audience overall since 1998 (Utah-Chicago).



With the series debut of “The Astronaut Wives Club” and the 3rd season premiere of “Mistresses,” ABC beat original Thursday schedules on NBC and Fox in Total Viewers (4.4 million) and Adults 18-49 (0.9/4). 


·         ABC’s “The Astronaut Wives Club” and “Mistresses” ranked as Thursday’s Top 2 dramas on the major nets in Adults 18-49.


“The Astronaut Wives Club” (8:00-9:00 p.m. – 5.5 million and 1.1/5 in AD18-49):

Despite its 8:00 p.m. time period without a network lead-in, ABC’s “The Astronaut Wives Club” debuted higher than Fox’s Thursday 9:00 p.m. summertime drama “Wayward Pines” by 10% (1.0/3 on 5/14/15) and tied NBC’s 9:00 p.m. 2-hour debut of “Aquarius” (1.1/4 on 5/28/15). Unlike the Fox and NBC debuts which did not build during their respective openers, the new ABC drama gained 10% from its first half-hour to its second half-hour with young adults.

·         “The Astronaut Wives Club” improved its hour from the year-ago night with original programming by 57% in Adults 18-49 (1.1/5 vs. 0.7/3 – “Black Box” on 6/19/14), posting ABC’s highest non-sports summertime delivery in the hour since August 2013 – since 8/22/13.


“Mistresses” (9:00-11:00 pm – 3.8 million and 0.9/3 in AD18-49):

At 9:00 p.m., moving from Monday (coming out of “The Bachelorette”) to Thursday, ABC’s season premiere of “Mistresses” ranked No. 1 in its 2-hour slot in Adults 18-49 (tie), defeating NBC’s Thursday drama combo of “Aquarius”/”Hannibal” by 50% (0.9/3 vs. 0.6/2). “Mistresses” was up from last season’s finale (on 9/1/14) in Total Viewers (3.8 million vs. 3.7 million) and steady in Adults 18-49 (0.9/3). In fact the show marked its most-watched telecast in nearly 1 year, outdrawing the last 8 airings of its 2nd season – since 6/30/14. Please Note: ABC’s “Rookie Blue” premieres next Thursday in the 10:00 p.m. hour (on 6/25/15).

·         TV Playback Note: Last summer, “Mistresses” posted strong increases via TV playback, spiking 60% from its initially-reported Live + Same Day number to its final Live +7 Day Adult 18-49 rating (1.0 rating to a 1.6 rating).


ABC won Friday in Adults 18-49 (1.1/5), delivering the Top 3 shows of the night on the major networks with “20/20” (1.4/6), “What Would You Do?” (1.0/4) and “Shark Tank-R” (0.8/4). ABC was also the most-watched network (5.3 million) in prime, driven by “20/20” (7.3 million) as Friday’s top TV show with the newsmagazine’s most-watched summertime telecast since 2006


“20/20” (10:00-11:00 p.m. – 7.3 million and 1.4/6 in AD18-49):

At 10:00 p.m., ABC’s “20/20” dominated its hour over NBC’s “Dateline” (3.6 million viewers, 0.7/3 in AD18-49 and 1.1/4 in AD25-54) and spiked by strong double digits week to week in Total Viewers (+40% – 7.3 million vs. 5.2 million), Adults 18-49 (+27% – 1.4/6 vs. 1.1/4) and Adults 25-54 (+33% – 2.0/7 vs. 1.5/5), hitting 8-week highs on all three measures – since “Bruce Jenner: The Interview” aired on 4/24/15.  In fact, the ABC newsmagazine drew its biggest summertime audience in nearly 9 years (Memorial Day-Labor Day) – since 8/11/06. “20/20” featured reporting on “The Wolfpack,” a group of six brothers who grew up locked in a New York City apartment, and Elizabeth Vargas’ first broadcast interview with five of the brothers.



“Celebrity Family Feud” (8:00-9:00 p.m. – 8.7 million and 2.4/10 in AD18-49):

Launching over its repeat “Funniest Home Videos” lead-in at 8:00 p.m. (+103%/+167%) against Fox’s high-rated US Open Championship golf coverage, ABC’s debut of “Celebrity Family Feud” topped its hour and opened as Sunday’s No. 1 TV show in Total Viewers (8.7 million) and Adults 18-49 (2.4/10).  The game show built from its first half-hour to its second half-hour.

·         In Adults 18-49, “Celebrity Family Feud” opened as TV’s top summer series debut in 2 years (since CBS’ “Under the Dome” on 6/24/13) and equaled the highest unscripted summer debut in 4 years (since NBC’s “The Voice Results Show” on 6/22/11). In addition, “Celebrity Family Feud” attracted ABC’s biggest summer series audience to the hour since 2005 and its top young adult number since 2007 – since 8/14/05 and 8/19/07, respectively.


“BattleBots” (9:00-10:01 p.m. – 5.4 million and 1.9/7 in AD18-49):

At 9:00 p.m., ABC’s debut of “BattleBots” was the night’s No. 2 show and the No. 1 series in its hour with Adults 18-49 (1.9/7).  From 9:00-10:00 p.m., ABC’s “BattleBots” beat NBC’s season finale of “A.D.” by 50% in Total Viewers (5.4 million vs. 3.6 million) and more than doubled it with Adults 18-49 (+171% – 1.9/7 vs. 0.7/2).


·         “BattleBots” was up 27% in Adults 18-49 from the year-ago Sunday 9:00 p.m. debut of “Rising Star” (1.5/5 on 6/22/14), giving ABC its best summertime series performance in the hour in close to 7 years – since 8/24/08.  In addition, trailing only “Celebrity Family Feud,” “BattleBots” tied as TV’s 2nd-highest unscripted summer series debut in 3 years – since NBC’s “American Ninja Warrior” on 5/21/12.
