mun2′ Season Opening Games Deliver Double and Triple-Digit Growth Versus Last Seasons’ Openers Among Adults 18-49
UNIVERSAL CITY, CA – August 12, 2014 – mun2, the modern general entertainment cable channel for Latinos, continues its coverage of the 2014/2015 season of the Barclays Premier League with three exciting matches commencing Saturday August 23 at 9:55 a.m. EST/ 8:55 a.m. CST with Chelsea vs Leicester City and Everton vs Arsenal at 12:25 p.m. EST/11:25 a.m. CST followed on Monday August 25 with Manchester City vs Liverpool at 2:55 p.m. EST/1:55 p.m. CST.
This season the network will transmit the most games ever, featuring 100 games with unprecedented coverage across multiple platforms and making them available via streaming through selected pay TV providers and on VOD immediately after the games are over.
In its debut matches for the 2014/2015 season last Saturday August 16th, Manchester United vs Swansea City” (Sat 7:40a) more than doubled the viewership among adults 18 to 49 vs. game 1 in the prior season “Arsenal vs Aston Villa,” according to Nielsen. In addition, “Arsenal vs “Crystal Palace” (Sat 12:25p) was up +22% among adults 18 to 49 vs. game 2 in the prior season’s “Swansea City vs Manchester United.”
The new season continues with three intriguing matchups that will start to shape the top of the table. Jose Mourinho’s Chelsea squad, which opened the season with a goal from recently acquired Diego Costa in a 3-1 victory against Burley last Saturday, look to retain their form versus recently promoted Leicester City which tied Everton 2-2 in their return to top flight play since 2004. Meanwhile, Roberto Martinez squad will look to stellar United States national goalkeeper Tim Howard to lead The Toffees against an Arsenal squad which comes into Goodison Park after Welsh Aaron Ramsey netted a stoppage-time winner to snatch a 2-1 over Crystal Palace in their opener. 2013/2014 Champion Manchester City, led by goals from Spaniard David Silva and Argentine Sergio “Kun” Agüero, started their title defense with a victory at Newcastle United last Saturday and now have to receive Liverpool. The Reds led by England’s own Daniel Sturridge, which has assumed the lead goal scoring duties for Liverpool with the departure of Uruguayan forward Luis Suarez, secured a 2-1 victory in their opener versus Southampton when Sturridge came to the rescue with a predatory goal in the 79th minute.
Soccer analyst Sammy Sadovnik and former Mexican National Team player Manuel Sol will call all the matches.
