CBS SPORTS BROADCASTS PGA TOUR’S FINAL REGULAR-SEASON EVENT
AT WYNDHAM CHAMPIONSHIP ON AUGUST 18-19
The final run to the PGA TOUR Playoffs for the FedExCup is this weekend at the WYNDHAM CHAMPIONSHIP, the last event of the PGA TOUR’s regular season, as CBS Sports broadcasts third- and final-round coverage of the Wyndham Championship from historic Sedgefield Country Club in Greensboro, N.C., on Saturday, August 18 and Sunday, August 19 (3:00-6:00 PM, ET, both days), live on the CBS Television Network.
Bill Macatee and analyst Ian Baker-Finch provide commentary from the 18th tower. Peter Oosterhuis calls the shots from the 17th tower. Peter Kostis calls the action at the 16th hole and David Feherty serves as on-course reporter.
As the final event in the PGA TOUR season, the Wyndham Championship offers the last opportunity for players to boost their FedEx positions heading into the Playoffs, and to earn a spot in the first Playoff event, The Barclays. Reigning U.S. Open champion Webb Simpson became the third Wake Forest graduate to win last year’s Wyndam Championship, along with Lanny Wadkins and Scott Hoch. Simpson’s three-stroke victory moved him to #3 in the FedExCup standings entering the Playoffs. He ultimately finished second in the FedExCup standings behind fellow Wake Forest alumni Bill Haas. The 72nd playing of the Wyndham Championship has a strong field of 156 players looking to improve their Playoff position for the FedExCup including Simpson, Haas, Jason Dufner, Brandt Snedeker, Sergio Garcia, Carl Pettersson, Nick Watney, David Toms, Lucas Glover, D.A. Points, Ryo Ishikawa, Camilo Villegas, Charlie Wi, Jason Bohn, John Daly, Robert Karlsson, Charl Schwartzel, Y.E. Yang, Ryan Moore, Davis Love III, Rocco Mediate, David Duval, Robert Allenby, Justin Leonard, Brian Gay, Boo Weekley, Tim Clark, J.B. Holmes, Stuart Appleby, Andres Romero, Kevin Stadler, Chris DiMarco and Chez Reavie are among those competing at the Wyndham Championship.
After the Wyndham Championship, the top 125 point earners will make the field at THE BARCLAYS, the first of the four PGA TOUR FedExCup Playoff tournaments. CBS Sports will broadcast the third- and final rounds of The Barclays on Saturday, August 25 (3:00-6:00 PM, ET) and Sunday, August 26 (2:00-6:00 PM, ET), live from Bethpage State Park’s Black Course in Farmingdale, N.Y.
Lance Barrow is Coordinating Producer and Steve Milton is Director of CBS Sports’ golf coverage. Harold Bryant is Executive Producer and Vice President, Production, CBS Sports.
