Leon prepares to face off against Chivas with first place as its most immediate objective, currently standing in third place just one point behind tournament leader Morelia. This will be a tough test for the home team, since Chivas is in dire need of a win to keep its playoff hopes alive. The key players for Leon will be Matias Britos and Rafa Márquez, the Uruguayan star striker and the veteran team leader respectively, while Marco Fabian will be the most important component for Chivas. Fabian scored the tying goal in last weekend’s 2-2 draw against Tijuana and has been embroiled in controversy lately because of a frustrated transfer attempt.
Sunday morning will mark the arrival of yet another can’t-miss match as Manchester City hosts Manchester United in the 149th edition of the storied Manchester derby, an encounter that has much more than just three points on the line. Manchester United are the defending champions, while City raised the trophy after the 2011/12 campaign and was the runner-up last season. This will be a duel between two high profile Hispanic goal scorers in Argentina’s Sergio “Kun” Agüero and Mexico’s own Chicharito Hernandez, while Ecuadorian midfielder Antonio Valencia will also look to bolster United’s attack. Another Argentine who will be on the pitch is Pablo Zabaleta, a key part of the defense for both the Citizens and Argentina’s National Team. Chile will be well represented by Manuel Pellegrini, who became the new Manchester City manager this season,
The head-to-head matches between both teams in the Barclays Premier League dates back to 1894, and the stats show that the Red Devils won 27 times with 24 draws and 23 victories for Manchester City.
