App Surpasses 10 Million Download Mark on iPad, iPhone, iPod Touch and Windows 8
Launches on Kindle Fire and Kindle Fire HD
Disney/ABC Television Group announced today that its industry-leading ABC Player app — which makes ad supported full episodes of ABC’s daytime and primetime programming available to viewers the day after they air – has surpassed more than 10 million downloads, 200 million episode views and over 1.31 billion ad impressions on iPad, iPhone and iPod touch and Windows 8. Additionally, the app recently launched on Kindle Fire and Kindle Fire HD.
Within the past year, the ABC Player app was named the sixth most downloaded free iPad app of all time. Additionally, it expanded to launch on iPhone, iPod Touch and Windows 8, which resulted in downloads more than doubling. Key functionality upgrades were also made, including optimization for retina display on next generation iPads, closed captioning functionality, as well as providing the ability to “save and recall” their playback position between iOS devices.
Over the past several years, the Disney/ABC Television Group has consistently launched innovative apps for iPad, iPhone and iPod touch. Other notable DATG apps include WATCH Disney Channel, WATCH Disney Junior and WATCH Disney😄, all of which enable authenticated customers to access live streaming of linear channel feeds, as well as on demand episodes of popular shows; the award-winning Mickey Mouse Clubhouse Road Rally Appisodes app; the ABC Family Player app, which also makes full ad supported episodes available; the ABC News app for iPad; and the Emmy Award-winning official Oscars app, which provided unique backstage viewing experiences for the 83rd, 84th and 85th Academy Awards.
