IN FIRST QUARTER 2013, CBS NEWS’ “FACE THE NATION WITH BOB SCHIEFFER” IS FIRST IN ADULTS 25-54 (TIED), VIEWERS AND HOUSEHOLDS
“FACE THE NATION” FINISHES FIRST IN VIEWERS AND HOUSEHOLDS FOR THE FIRST TIME EVER IN A FIRST QUARTER SINCE THE ADVENT OF PEOPLE METERS
CBS NEWS’ “FACE THE NATION SPECIAL” ON EASTER SUNDAY IS THE #1 SUNDAY MORNING PUBLIC AFFAIRS SHOW
In first quarter 2013, CBS News’ FACE THE NATION WITH BOB SCHIEFFER is first in viewers, adults 25-54 (tied with NBC) – the demographic most important to those who advertise in News – and households, according to Nielsen most current ratings. The CBS broadcast finished first in viewers and households for the first time ever in a first quarter since the advent of people meters (1987). In first quarter 2013, FACE THE NATION posted 0.8/03 in adults 25-54 with 3.18m viewers and 2.3/06 in households.
FACE THE NATION also posted its best first quarter deliveries in adults 25-54 since 2012, viewers since 2009 and households since 2006. Compared to first quarter 2012, FACE THE NATION is up +3% in viewers (from 3.09m), +5% in households (from 2.2/06) and even in adults 25-54.
On Easter Sunday, FACE THE NATION SPECIAL was the #1 Sunday morning public affairs show, placing first in adults 25-54 (tied with NBC), viewers and households. The CBS broadcast posted 0.7/04 in adults 25-54, 2.93m viewers and 2.0/06 in households, according to Nielsen live plus same day ratings for March 31. Editor’s Note: FACE THE NATION’s second half-hour was broadcast contiguously across 50% of the CBS affiliates.
On the broadcast, Bob Schieffer interviewed New York Cardinal Timothy Dolan and hosted a panel on religion with Bishop Mariann Budde of the Episcopal Diocese of Washington, Imam Suhaib Webb of the Islamic Society of Boston, Bishop Harry Jackson of the International Communion of Evangelical Churches and Rabbi David Wolpe of Sinai Temple in Beverly Hills. Schieffer also hosted a discussion on political leadership with authors Amity Shlaes, Jeffrey Frank, Lynne Olson and Paul Reid.
Season-to-date, FACE THE NATION is up +8% in viewers (3.23m from 2.99m), +10% in households (2.3/06 from 2.1/06) and even in adults 25-54 (0.8/03) compared to last year. Season-to-date, FACE THE NATION is first in adults 25-54 (tied with NBC), viewers and households (tied with NBC) among the Sunday morning public affairs programs.
FACE THE NATION is broadcast on Sundays at 10:30 AM, ET (check local listings) on the CBS Television Network. Mary Hager is the Executive Producer. FACE THE NATION is one of the longest-running news programs in the history of television. It premiered on CBS on Nov. 7, 1954. The program broadcasts from Washington, D.C., where Schieffer has spent more than 40 years covering government and politics. He has anchored FACE THE NATION since 1991. Guests include government leaders, politicians and global figures in the news.
