|Coverage Highlighted by Formula One™ Canadian Grand Prix Live on NBC at 2 p.m. ET this Sunday
NBC Sports Group Coverage of First Six F1™ Races Has Reached 4.746 Million Viewers, Up 137% vs. Last Year
|NEW YORK – June 5, 2013 – NBC Sports Group will present 13.5 hours of motorsports coverage from Friday to Sunday, June 7-9, highlighted by live coverage of the Formula One™ Canadian Grand Prix on NBC at 2 p.m. ET on Sunday from Montreal. This is the second consecutive F1 race on NBC, following the live broadcast of the Monaco Grand Prix on May 26. Race day, Sunday, June 9, will begin at 1:30 p.m. ET on NBC Sports Network with a pre-race show and conclude with F1 Extra, a half-hour post-race show, on NBC immediately following the race.
Coverage from Montreal, Canada, begins with live practice on Friday, June 7, at 2 p.m. ET on NBC Sports Network. Qualifying will air live on Saturday, June 8, at 1 p.m. ET on NBC Sports Network.
In addition to Formula One coverage, NBC Sports Network will air coverage of AMA Motocross on Saturday at 5 p.m. ET and Stadium Super Trucks on Sunday at 2 p.m. ET.
COMMENTATORS: Leigh Diffey will call the race alongside veteran analyst and former racecar driver David Hobbs, and analyst and former race mechanic for the Benetton F1 team Steve Matchett. F1 insider Will Buxton will serve as the team’s on-site reporter from Montreal, Quebec in Canada.
VIEWERSHIP: The six live Formula One races this season on NBC Sports Network (five) and NBC (one) have reached 4.746 million average viewers, up 137% over the same point last season (SPEED, 2.005 million), according to data provided today by The Nielsen Company.
NBC’s live broadcast of the Monaco Grand Prix on Sunday, May 26, was watched by 1.413 million viewers, making it the most-watched F1 race on U.S. television in six years, up 231% vs. last year’s race (SPEED, 427,000 viewers), and up 36% vs. FOX’s four-race F1 average last year (1.038 million), all of which were broadcast in the afternoon, one live (Canadian) and three on same-day delay (European, British, German).
NBC tallied triple-digit increases vs. SPEED’s Monaco telecast last year among the advertiser-coveted demographics Adults 18-49 (441,000 vs. 127,000, up 247%) and Adults P25-54 (654,000 vs. 160,000, up 309%).

F1 ON NBC SPORTS LIVE EXTRA: NBC Sports Live Extra — NBC Sports Group’s live streaming product for desktops, mobile devices, and tablets — will live stream the Monaco Grand Prix on Sunday, May 26, as well as qualifying on Saturday, May 25, and practice on Thursday, May 23. A vast majority of coverage will be streamed via “TV Everywhere,” the media industry’s effort to make quality content available to authenticated customers both in and out of the home and on multiple platforms.
