“Noticiero Telemundo 51” in Miami Was Most Watched Local News at 11 PM, Regardless of Language, For 20 Consecutive Months

MIRAMAR, FL – (December 3, 2014) – The Telemundo Station Group today announced that its local stations in the Los Angeles and Miami-Fort Lauderdale markets ranked No. 1 for early morning and late local newscasts, regardless of language, for key demographic groups during the November sweep period.  Telemundo52 Los Angeles (KVEA) outranked all other stations in the market at 5 AM and 6 AM among the key Adults 18-34 demo. At the close of the November sweep period, Telemundo 51 Miami-Fort Lauderdale (WSCV) remained the most-watched local news program at 11 PM in the market, regardless of language, for 20 consecutive months for Adults 18-49 and Adults 25-54.

Specifically, “Noticiero Telemundo52” (KVEA) at 5 AM and 6 AM ranked as the most-watched local programs for Adults 18-34, regardless of language, according to Nielsen data. This is the first time in the station’s 27-year history that its early morning local newscasts secured the No. 1 spot in these time periods and among all English and Spanish-language viewers. The 5 AM and 6 AM newscasts were also the most-watched by Spanish-language viewers in the Los Angeles market among Adults 18-49 and Adults 25-54. Additionally, “Noticiero Telemundo 52” at 5:30 PM was the No. 1 ranked newscast in the time period among Adults 18-49 and Adults 25-54, and its 6 PM newscast ranked No. 2 among Adults 18-49 and Adults 25-54, regardless of language, for the fifth consecutive month.

“Noticiero Telemundo 51” (WSCV) at 5 AM was the most-watched local newscast in the Miami-Fort Lauderdale market, regardless of language, among Adults 18-34, according to Nielsen data. The station’s 5:30 PM and 6 PM newscasts also secured the top spot in the market, regardless of language, for the November sweep period, among the key demo groups Adults 18-49 and Adults 25-54. “Noticiero Telemundo 51” at 11 PM remained the most-watched local newscast for 20 consecutive months, regardless of language, for Adults 18-49 and Adults 25-54.

Telemundo52 Los Angeles details:

  • “Noticiero Telemundo52” at 5 AM and 6 AM (Monday to Friday) averaged a 0.5 rating for Adults 18-34 and averaged a 63 percent audience share among all other Spanish-language stations in the market in this time frame; 
  • “Noticiero Telemundo52” at 5 AM and 6 AM (Monday to Friday) averaged a 0.4 rating for Adults 18-49 and a 0.5 rating for Adults 25-54.  The newscast averaged a 50 percent audience share of Adults 18-49 and 56 percent audience share for Adults 25-54 among all Spanish-language broadcast stations in the market in this time frame;
  • “Noticiero Telemundo52” at 5:30 PM (Monday to Friday) averaged a 0.8 rating for A18-49 and 1.0 rating for Adults 25-54 with a 26 percent and 27 percent, respectively, audience share in the time period; and
  • “Noticiero Telemundo52” at 6 PM (Monday to Friday) averaged a 1.0 rating for Adults A18-49 and averaged a 28 percent audience share in the time period. The newscast also averaged a 1.2 rating for Adults 25-54 and averaged a 26 percent audience share in the time period. The 6 PM newscast saw a 100 percent year-to-year increase among Adults 18-49 and 50 percent increase among Adults 25-54.

Telemundo 51 Miami-Fort Lauderdale details:

  • “Noticiero Telemundo 51” at 5 AM (Monday to Friday) ranked No. 1 among all newscasts in the market, regardless of language, for Adults 18-34 and averaged a 0.3 rating and 37 percent audience share;
  • “Noticiero Telemundo 51” at 5:30 PM (Monday to Friday) ranked No. 1 among all newscasts in the market, regardless of language, averaging a 1.3 rating and 32 percent audience share for Adults 18-49 and averaged a 1.6 rating and 28 percent audience share for Adults 25-54;
  • “Noticiero Telemundo 51” at 6 PM (Monday to Friday) secured the top spot among all newscasts in the market, regardless of language, for Adults 18-49 and Adults 25-54 and averaged 1.9 and 1.6 ratings, respectively; and
  • “Noticiero Telemundo 51” at 11 PM (Monday to Friday) averaged a 2.0 rating for Adults 18-49 and a 2.5 rating for Adults 25-54.

Telemundo52 (KVEA) is Telemundo’s West Coast flagship television station, serving the Spanish-speaking community in the Los Angeles market and has been delivering local news, information and entertainment to viewers throughout Southern California for nearly 30 years. Telemundo 51 (WSCV) is Telemundo’s local television station that serves the Spanish-speaking community in the Miami-Fort Lauderdale, the third largest Hispanic market in the country.
