A Better Place to Be, Private Practice was the worst piece of writing I have ever seen Shonda Rhimes put together. The characters are not redeemable. The ratings are down because Rhimes spent years showing us multi-dimensional characters and we learned their history. In one episode she erased their history and made it irrelevant and simultaneously removed any interesting or watchable human characteristics. It was like watching the last episode of Seinfeld…. except this wasn’t funny. Shonda Rhimes has ONE move here….. pull a “Dallas” and make it all a bad dream. This show will tank if she continues to twitter defending that episode. I’m not watching any more. Clearly, neither are other people.
Karen Please get you head out of your (ARSE) not ASS (ARSE) Shonde Rhimes is doing a great job and I love the writing and her work. Turn the channel girl, if you don’t like it. Shonda ain’t thinking about you and your ARSE Girl… She’s too busy working, turning out good ty all night, all day.
On GA Addison was a woman who cheated on Derek with Sloan, aborted Sloan’s baby and then chased Derek to Seattle, breaking up his relationship with future wife Meredith. When she moved to California, she desperately wanted a baby, but found she didn’t have viable eggs. When Dell’s orphaned little girl showed up needing a home, her relationship with her best friend’s ex-husband was too important to her for her to want a child anymore. Did she a) Adopt her anyway? b) Find her a good home, with a good family? c) Offer to financially support her? d) Foster her until a suitable home could be found?
Nope. None of those. She chose to break her best friend’s heart, betray her friend Dell, abandon a small child, keep all of her money and then, just a few episodes later, start whining all over again about wanting a baby.
And that’s just one of the characters in an entire cast who are simply reprehensible. Dell DIED saving Sam’s daughter. Dell’s daughter needs help now. What kind of person doesn’t pay that back? Do you REALLY think that Dell would have saved her life if he knew it would kill him and that none of his friends would have done the same for him? None of them? NONE of them?
The episode searched for a soul in any of the characters and came up empty. Seriously? This child has been orphaned for like, a few months, during which time she was cared for by an Aunt. There’s no way it was too late for her to fit in to a family. Good people take in their friend’s kids when they die. When they are rich, at a very, very, very minimum, they set up a trust to support them financially, provide for counseling, set up a college fund.
It’s not my head that’s up where the sun don’t shine. If you check the ABC website and read the comments under that episode, you’ll find I’m not the only one who stopped watching. That’s the last episode I saw. I’ll watch again as soon as I hear a spoiler than Shonda Rhimes is going to fix this. I thought sure when Ney got back she would react violently, but best I can tell from the synopses, it never came up again.
Truly. Why bother watching a show like this? Where is that little girl now? Were we doing a little public service announcement warning people not to let their kids be orphaned if they don’t have quality friends? Ridiculous. She must be trying to get the show cancelled.
And I did change the channel. And you are right… she’s not thinking about me… or any other viewer or advertiser. Not at all. Sad. Could have been as good as Grey’s once upon a time. Too late now.

That was perfectly put. I have also not watched the show since Shonda made me hate all the characters. This, after never having missed an episode.
Please get the mental,screwed up Amelia off there!!This is not the show I loved for three years.the other Drs.,have compassion for their pts.all she wants to do is CUT!! didnt like her from the start,hope u give her less time in the plot of every episode.SHe can t hold a candle to the other Drs. and characters.she is arragot,stubborn,selfish, and shes a drunk!!! tooo much tooo long!!!!!

Shonda Rhimes and company should be sentenced to life without parole to produce a tv series ever!!!The characters in this show are nauseating and stupid with all their sappy, selfish angst. There is absolutely no chemistry between Sam and Addison and their ‘togetherness’ is awkward at best. Whomever concocted their relationship should be horse-whipped. Violet brings on instant gagging and nausea, and is just over-the-top with her uber angst/compassionate care for her patients. She should be committed for the way she stalks EVERYONE!!! Amelia is annoying as all hell and should be banned from practicing medicine altogether. Cooper is a clown who belongs at day camp with other prepubescent juveniles, and Sheldon needs to build up his own patient roster instead of analyzing his colleagues. Thank the gods that Naomi finally left, and the best scenes she had were when she totally ignored Addison’s whining ass of a slut. The entire medical practice is a looney bin of so-called caring professionals who all seem to congregate in the break room to commensurate over their sad, sorry and miserable lives or about some patient with an incurable this-or-other, even over-reacting to just about everything deemed politically incorrect. They are all nosy and gossipy and all seem to share one brain. They have no other friends to hang out with after work, and always seem to be readily present or available at every crisis–to the totally unrealistic episode where they all showed up to attend an out-of-state wedding of Charlotte’s mom. Privately, they’re all losers and the writers responsible for each paltry episode should all be made to walk the gang plank and dropped over the side! And how many doctors in this day & age actually visit their patients’ homes to try and persuade them to do ‘what’s right’ for the sake of a plot??!! Charlotte needs to kick Cooper to the curb and hook up with Pete, and Violet and Sheldon both need professional help. This show as gone over-the-top and has nothing to do with any hint of the real world. If anyone on this forum thinks this show is ‘great work’, they too should seek professional help.
I still watch the show and i agree it has change some.But Addison came to see Naomi because she wanted a baby, I don’t think she ever stop wanting one of her own,sure she could adopt but that not really what she is focus on. And to answer your question Karen they did bring Besty back at end of season last year and Naomi and fife took her in and moved to New York.
