While the metered market overnight ratings don’t tell us much (they don’t include total viewers and aren’t good at predicting the 18-49 demographic), it’s the first week of the season and we can at least compare them to last year’s numbers while we wait for the viewers and demographic numbers. We’ll hopefully see the full preliminary ratings shortly after 11a ET, and post soon after.
New Girl looks to have made a strong debut. It scored a 7.4 metered market household rating out of Glee at 9pm, and it grew out of Glee’s 6.6 household rating (which was down from last year’s 8.3). Last year, when Glee was stronger, Raising Hope premiered to a 4.9 preliminary household rating. CBS’s This year Raising Hope scored a 4.7 preliminary household rating at 9:30p, which wasn’t much of a drop from last year’s 9pm premiere.
Unforgettable looks to have made a solid debut with a 9.3 overnight household rating. Last year CBS went with two hours of NCIS: LA in premiere week and the 10pm hour scored an 8.6 household rating. NCIS’s 12.2 household rating was on par with last season’s premiere and NCIS: LA’s 10.6 was up from last year.
On ABC, the season premiere of Body of Proof scored a 6.9 household rating, down a little from last year’s series premiere of Detroit 1-8-7, but we definitely need to wait to see the adults 18-49 ratings before jumping to any conclusions. Same for Parenthood which scored a 3.8 preliminary household rating versus last year’s 4.2.
Ringer dropped 28% from its premiere to a 1.8 household rating.
