After 18 weeks of the 2008-9 season, through January 25, 2009, CBS’s lead for  adults 18-49 over Fox has narrowed to just 10,000 average demo adults. Look for Fox to take that season to date lead beginning next week and not look back. CBS continues to hold the season to date lead in average viewers by a wide margin, and is not likely to be challenged, but Fox will likely pass ABC for the #2 spot before too much longer. Fox continues to hold the top spot for adults 18-34, and will likely continue to stretch that lead going forward. NBC continues to drift backwards now that Sunday Night Football is finished. After the Super Bowl bump this week, look out below!

CBS holds the largest season to date average audience with 11.31 million viewers, followed by ABC with 8.64 million. In the 18-49 demo, CBS with 3.96 million leads now second place Fox with 3.95 million. CBS also has the most average adults 25-54 with 4.86 million, again followed by Fox with 4.17 million. I don’t see Fox beating CBS in adults 25-54 for the season, but it’s not out of the question.

With an average of 1.84 million Fox occupies the top for adults 18-34 followed by NBC with 1.54 million and ABC with 1.48 million.
