After 24 weeks of the 2008-9 season, through March 8, 2009, Fox continues to expand its leads for adults 18-49 and 18-34, and cut into the CBS lead in adults 25-54. CBS continues to hold the average viewership lead for the season, and there seems very little chance CBS will lose it.

Fox continues to hold the season to date lead in adults 18-49, and is not likely to be dethroned, Fox averages 4.31 million adults 18-49 to CBS’s 3.85 million. With an average of 1.97 million Fox occupies the top for adults 18-34 followed by NBC with 1.60 million and ABC with 1.52 million. Fox will likely continue to widen that lead as long as American Idol is airing. NBC season averages are boosted significantly from the Super Bowl. They’re not doing nearly as well as those averages would make it appear on an ongoing basis. CBS has the most average adults 25-54 with 4.75 million, followed by Fox with 4.59 million. Fox is slowly narrowing that gap and may catch CBS by the end of the season.
