Once again, Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy and Two and a Half Men took the top three spots in the syndication ratings.
For the first-time in 8 weeks, Oprah won the battle for daytime supremacy over Judge Judy when it came to household ratings. . Oprah was paced by a show about the disfiguring genetic disease Neurofibromatosis and brothers who nearly starved to death. That show (on May 6) averaged 6.8 million, about 400,000 more than a show with former first lady Laura Bush.
While Oprah out-rated Judge Judy in household (4.6 vs. 4.4), her honor still averaged more viewers (6.14 million vs. 6.06 million). Year over year Judge Judy is still up 10% while Oprah is down 12%.
Meanwhile though Maury was only 29th in household rating, he topped the talk shows with young women 18-34, beating Oprah. Maury has been #1 in that demo in 7 of the last 9 weeks (tied w/Oprah the weeks of 3/8/10 and 4/26/10).
Ellen fans, she was outside of the top 25 in average audience with 2.85 million and was tied for 24th in household rating with a 2.2 rating.
Legend of the Seeker Fans: Seeker ran a new episode “Eternity” the weekend of May 8, and the updated table for Season two’s ratings is still below the normal syndicated top 25 table. While it’s hardly a surprise and there is still no official word from Disney ABC Domestic Television, sadly, Michael Ausiello reports that Seeker will wrap production after season two and that there will not be a third season. E! Online confirms the report.
Friday Night Smackdown Fans: It didn’t make the top 25 – it was tied for 37th in HH rating with a 1.7 and averaged 2.746 million viewers.
Please note that the syndicated weekly results are delayed versus normal reporting. While we get the broadcast and cable ratings for the prior Monday-Sunday period every Tuesday, there is an extra week of lag time with the syndicated ratings and these numbers are not for last week, but for the week before last (in other words, the WWE Friday Night Smackdown! is for April 30, not May 7).
Note: all numbers below are “average audience” figures rather than “gross average audience.”
