Based on early metered market numbers,  last night’s Pro Bowl in Miami on ESPN  the week before the Super Bowl averaged a  7.9 household rating.  That’s up 39% versus last year’s 5.7 household rating on NBC when the game aired the week after the Super Bowl.  We will post the viewer averages and 18-49 demographic ratings when they are available later today.

Sure, lots of stars bailed out, and none of the Pro Bowl selections from the Super Bowl participants – the Colts and Saints  — could play, but, the ratings were better anyway.

Next year the game returns to Hawaii, but the date hasn’t been set yet.  I think it’s safe to make your plans for January 30, 2011.  That’s the Sunday before Super Bowl XLV on February 6, 2011.
