Syndicated TV ratings: ‘Judge Judy’ rises to 5-week high in the week of Oct. 23-29

The start of the November sweeps period was a good one for “Judge Judy.”

The show topped the syndication rankings with a 7.1 household rating in the week of Oct. 23. That’s a five-week high for the show.

“Family Feud” finished second for the week with a 6.5 and maintained its stranglehold on the game-show category. It was three tenths of a point better than “Jeopardy.”

“Dr. Phil” led talk shows, per usual, with a 3.6 rating, comfortably ahead of “Live with Kelly and Ryan” and “The Ellen DeGeneres Show,” which tied for second in the category at 2.3.

Why do you use household ratings here but nowhere else?
Ad deals for syndicated shows are largely based on household ratings and, for daytime shows, ratings among women 25-54.

What about “The Simpsons”? “Simpsons” repeats in syndication are not counted in the weekly ratings because they don’t include any national advertising.

“Weekend Adventure” is a package of nature shows airing weekends on many ABC stations.

For syndicated shows airing on multiple days, the viewership is the average of all telecasts.
