Update November 8:  on the heels of blowing away my expectations with 4.7 million viewers and a 2.5 adults 18-49 rating, AMC has renewed The Walking Dead for a 13 episode second season.

In its premiere on Halloween, AMC’s The Walking Dead scored a pretty amazing (for AMC) 2.7 adults 18-49 rating and 5.345 million viewers in its initial 10pm telecast (live plus same day DVR viewing).

The consensus is that ratings usually go down after the premiere and that it won’t be any different for The Walking Dead.  I’d guess that’s right, though it would be even more interesting if it wasn’t!

To kill some time between now and Sunday at 10pm ET, you can guess the ratings for the second episode.  And yep, I know total viewers don’t really matter for advertising sale, but guess what else doesn’t matter?  Internet polls!  So you can guess the viewers too.

My guesses: a 1.8  adults 18-49 rating and 3.5 million viewers.
