CW chief Dawn Ostroff echoed what we’ve been telling you all season, she’s optimistic Supernatural will be renewed for a seventh season.

Speaking to Jennifer Arrow with E! Online’s Watch with Kristin,  Ostroff said:

“We haven’t officially picked anything up yet, but [Supernatural] is creatively doing so well—and it’s doing better on Friday night than it was on Thursday night—so I can’t imagine we won’t pick it up.”

“Our network team works with the Supernatural team very closely,” notes Ostroff, but the two sides have not yet engaged in any talks about a season-seven mytharc. “No, it’s too far out. We haven’t started talking about next year, but I’d be shocked if we didn’t pick it up.”

We’d be shocked too, and not just because Supernatural’s ratings are plenty good for the CW. Airing Supernatural on Friday instead of a repeat of America’s Next Top Model is the primary reason CW is doing better this season than last with adults 18-49.

Now the odds of Supernatural returning are better than the odds Ostroff will return.

Either way, CW has to find something to replace Smallville on Fridays.  Will it be Nikita?
