ABC has given a back-nine order to “Fresh Off the Boat,” which will now get a full, 22-episode second season.
The show had initially been picked up for just 13 episodes in 2015-16, fairly standard procedure for shows that debut midway through the season. After a solid ratings start, however, the network is going all in for the year.
Through three weeks, “FOTB” is averaging a 1.8 rating in adults 18-49 (same-day), and it’s showed great consistency over that span: It premiered to a 1.9, dipped to 1.7 in week two, then rebounded to 1.8 on Oct. 6. It also built on its “Muppets” lead-in last week.
