The other day the Drudge Report linked to our Jersey Shore ratings results for its season premiere and quite a few of the visitors to the site seemed toblame everything that is wrong in the world (and in these United States of America) on Jersey Shore.

With that in mind and the Dow Jones Industrial Average down over 600 points today and under 11,000, we ask what happens first: the Dow  closing under  10,000 or Jersey Shore averaging 10 million viewers for the first telecast of an episode?  The Dow hasn’t closed below 10,000 since late last August and Jersey Shore’s high to date was 8.9 million viewers last January.  The season premiere of Jersey Shore on Thursday averaged 8.8 million viewers and the DJI closed today at 10809.85.
